Haley Update

I'm sorry it has taken me so long to write an update.  Our family has been so devastated & to write it down into words is heartwrenching!  Haley did finally have surgery for her posterior fossa cysts.  During the surgery, the surgeons hit her cranial nerves & auditory canal.  Afterwards, she had lost the ability to use her facial muscles & had lost her hearing.  She was so scared & we were praying that this would be just temporary.  She later developed a brain infection from the surgery that went undiagnosed for quite a while, even though we repeatedly kept calling & taking her back to the surgeons.  She was put on heavy I.V. antibiotics & needed surgeries to irrigate the infection from her brain.  During one of the surgeries, she hemorrhaged.  Our hearts are so broken!  She is basically back at square one.  She had worked so very hard & always with a smile & she was sooo happy!!  If our family may make one request for our strong, brave, beautiful daughter, we sincerely ask you to please, please pray for Haley & her healing!  There is power in numbers & definitely power in prayer!!

Upcoming Surgery

We took Haley to see the surgeons regarding internalizing her externalized shunt.  However, we found out that something else should be addressed first.  Haley has some cysts at the top of her brain stem that the dr.'s believe could be interfering with her progress.  So, it looks like she will need to have brain surgery first & then internalization of the shunt.  We have a pre-surgical meeting the beginning of this week & believe the surgery will be within the next 2 weeks.  I will post the actual day when we find out.  Please, keep her in your prayers!

Dance Recital

The dance school Haley attended prior to her accident had their recital last night & I took Haley.  She looked so beautiful & I was so proud of her because she walked into the show & walked out (with assistance).  Her best friend, Abby, was with her & I was so grateful for that.  Haley really enjoyed the show & later told me, "Mommy, there's one thing I'm mad about.  That I wasn't up on stage for the recital."  I told her, " I know my love, but you will be!  Your just getting better right now."

Haley sees her completed website

I showed Haley her completed website today.  When I read the "All About Haley" page to her, she started to cry.  She then looked up at me & said, "Mommy, you've made me so happy."  I am so blessed!
